NSE All-Share Index increases by 0.27%

The All-Share Index of the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Monday appreciated by 0.27 per cent to close at 25,890.94 due to marginal gains recorded by some blue chip equities.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that this is against 25,820.10 posted on Friday.

Similarly, the market capitalisation, which opened at N8.881 trillion, inched N25 billion to close at N8.906 trillion.

An analysis of the price movement chart indicated that Total Nigeria led the gainers’ table, increasing by N5.20 to close at N142.95 per share.

International Breweries came second with a gain of 90k to close at N19.05, while Stanbic IBTC garnered 25k to close at N14.40 per share.

Custodian and Allied Insurance advanced by 18k to close at N3.89 and Oando appreciated by 17k to close at N3.66 per share.

Conversely, Union Dicon led the losers’ pack with 59k to close at N11.25 per share.

Vitafoam trailed with a loss of 21k to close at N4.15 and Dangote Sugar Refinery also dipped by 21k to close at N5.70 per share.

National Salt Company of Nigeria shed 18k to close at N7.17, while UACN depreciated by 14k to close at N19.96 per share.

In spite of the growth in market indices, the volume of shares traded closed lower with a turnover of 186.38 million shares valued at N1.31 billion transacted in 3,106 deals.

NAN reports that this is against the 257.05 million shares worth N1.49 billion achieved in 3,435 deals on Friday.

A breakdown of the activity chart showed that Zenith Bank was the toast of investors, exchanging 25.46 million shares worth N310.47 million traded in 344 deals.

Fidelity Bank followed with 25.31 million shares valued at N29.08 million transacted in 76 deals, while FBN Holdings sold 19.87 million shares worth N72.02 million in 361 deals.

Transcorp accounted for 18.93 million shares valued at N21.72 million exchanged in 132 deals, while United Capital traded 11.69 million shares worth N19.75 million in 153 deals.
